I took on this editorial project after Peter Mancall issued a call for editors for a new ABC-Clio series. I wanted to expose students to current scholarship on topics central to the Jacksonian and antebellum periods. Thankfully, several scholars graciously agreed to write the essays that comprise the collection. The volume also includes a set of primary documents for students’ use.
